Resmed Apnea Link Air HSAT manual & question
Resmed Apnea Link Air HSAT manual & question
Two questions about the home sleep study apparatus Apnea Link Air:
1) Is there a publicly available clinicians manual (that will hopefully have the technical specifications)?
2) Is the patient expected to ONLY breathe through the nostrils? (Are lips taped to prevent airflow through the mouth)

@Zonker:
Thanks. Have you personally used manualslib.com?
The link you sent sends me to a download that:
1) attempts to install a Trojan Horse
2) Attempts to reconfigure Chrome
3) install a new default browser
Not a particularly pleasant trip.

Just downloaded the manual just fine, no Trojans, Chrome reconfigs or changing the default browser.

Re: Resmed Apnea Link Air HSAT manual & question
Ok, I’ll try it again but Webroot ( my virus protection) really did not like it.
For those of you who did successfully download ( zonker, dog, granny ) what did the the clinic manual say about preventing flow through the mouth ( thereby bypassing flow measurement by the nasal probes)?

Re: Resmed Apnea Link Air HSAT manual & question
It may be that preventing flow through the oral route is not mentioned, but there are other admonitions. There is no mention of avoiding oral breathing in the patient instructions,ChicagoGranny wrote: ↑Wed Jun 08, 2022 12:11 pmThat's not the kind of information that is in a device clinical manual.
Just tape your lips shut.
Unless a patient is told to tape their lips shut, the flows that are recorded may be incorrect.
Seems to me that sort of instruction should be provided to a patient who is using this system at home.

Re: Resmed Apnea Link Air HSAT manual & question
The most important issue here is that flows measured by cannula prongs will miss oral flow.
If there is oral flow, studies that do not account for it are inaccurate as those studies do not measure the flow to the lungs (air flow to and from the lungs is the point of concern).
