Newbie Here
I'm finally going to start my cpap therapy this week and was wondering about mask pressure. They told me my pressure would be 15. When I had the study done they did it with a nasal pillows, but it was really uncomfortable so I ordered a nasal mask. My question is will my pressure change if I switch to a nasal mask?TIA

do us a favor and fill out your equipment profile? not everyone uses the same machine or same mask or combination of the two.
thank you!

Re: Newbie Here
Generally, the answer is no, pressure requirements will not differ. However, it's common that a prescribed pressure requires some optimization by an informed user. OSCAR is the tool we use to do this.Raider1man wrote: ↑Wed Jun 08, 2022 10:29 amMy question is will my pressure change if I switch to a nasal mask?
If the correct machine is listed in your equipment profile, you have an AutoSet machine. Auto machines are usually set to a range of pressures, not a single, fixed pressure. Get a copy of your prescription and a copy of the summary of your sleep study. It's your legal right to these documents. These documents will show your diagnosis and your prescribed pressure settings.

Ok great I go in later this week to get set up. The reason I was asking is because the person said that since I tested with a nasal pillow that I would have to possibly do another sleep study for a nasal mask. Didn't sound right to me !!

Sometimes when going from a nasal mask to a full face mask...sometimes...the pressures need to be adjusted a little bit but it is easily seen if this needs to be done just by the data the machine reports. Another sleep study is NOT needed even then.
Going from a nasal pillow mask to another sort of nasal interface mask...I have never seen or heard of a change being needed assuming optimal pressures were set up to start with. I myself have often gone back and forth between a nasal mask and a nasal pillow mask and never ever seen any real difference in pressures used or the results.
Someone either didn't know what they were talking about or someone was wanting to make more money with a repeat sleep titration study. Either way I wouldn't trust what I was told by that person.

Re: Newbie Here
One more question about your machine: are you sure it's a VAuto? That's a machine that's a little more specialized than a regular one, and your settings would probably include a number or range for something called pressure support.
