Death of a CPAP?

Post by Starlette » Tue May 10, 2022 10:29 am

Morning everyone!

Last night, I went to put on CPAP. Turned the machine one.
The CPAP machine sounded like boiling water.
The hose vibrated from the sound of boiling water.
I opened the chamber, the bottom of reservoir did not feel heated.
Therefore, has my CPAP died?

How old? How many hours? I am wondering at what point I need to get a backup.

Is your "boiling water" description an analogy or is the water actually boiling?

Some things to try:
  • Unplug device for a few and minutes plug it back in.
  • Could it be rain-out or over-filling
  • Try it without water in the tank

A single anecdotal breakdown, has no value in helping you to determine when you should get a backup. The prime consideration should be, your need to sleep with CPAP. If you can't sleep without one, you need to get a spare immediately.

If you want further discussion start a topic.

From my own personal experience, I would say as soon as you can afford to do so. My first machine was replaced after 30 days because it would not transmit data (bad phone modem) and the replacement failed after using it for six months. We out of town on a short trip and when I plugged the machine in at the hotel the first night, it would not power up. I tried other plugs but it would not work. I ended up having three night without using the machine. The minute I got home, I called the DME and they replaced it for me. That machine is still working almost six and a half years later.

Well, low and behold, something fixed itself.
Go figure. *shrugs*
No more gurgling sound.

I bet you, its because there was water inside your hose

Gurgling, or boiling.
By sound alone, it's hard to tell.
Blowing through a straw--it takes me back.

I don't know--is it?
If so, it's an accident.

Could be classified as a haiku.
Haikus are:
5 syllables.
7 syllables
5 syllables

How do I know/remember?
Had to create one in 7th grade.
Don't know why I would remember something like that.
