Medsense 10 - water draining?
Medsense 10 - water draining?
Hi everyone- newbie here helping my dad.
My dad has been using this machine for a number of years and he has some dementia. I am visiting from out of town so not regularly helping with his machine.
Tonight I was helping him out and when I entered the room I could hear his machine running. (If memory serves me right it normally only makes the sound once the seal is detected from the mask?) I went to it and noticed the water reservoir was empty. I pulled it out and it was definitely hot at the bottom. I filled the container to the max line and when I clipped it in the water immediately started draining out of a black tube coming out of the top- the tube wasn’t connected to anything so went on the floor. I tried again making sure I was pushing it in all the way- it didn’t make a click noise but seemed to be inserted as far as it would go.
Looking at the display it was saying the sms card needed to be replaced for reporting. When I cleared the message it was showing a varying level of pressure (?) and a circular pattern around that number- again the mask wasn’t even on.
Normally homecare is supposed to help with this, but it seems something is not right at all with the machine so don’t think it’s being used properly.
Anyone have a clue what is going on? My apologies for having so little experience with this- but can anyone suggest what we need to do here?
Thanks for any insight!

Is this machine sitting level?
It does sound like the water was overfilled?
What pressure was it running at?
Normally, the hose is connect before it is turned on - give that a try.
Lacking all that consider a You Tube video showing the problem and come back to this thread to link to it.

"Black tube coming out of the top of the machine"
I am not familiar with this feature.
Nothing sounds right here.
"Homecare" might not be on top of it.
As a matter of fact, they may not even have looked at it.

VChic, can you tell us the EXACT make and model machine you have please? AFAIK there is no Medsense CPAP. It's important to get this right so that people can make sensible suggestions.

I am guessing ResMED Air SENSE10, something.Respirator99 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 10, 2022 8:18 pmVChic, can you tell us the EXACT make and model machine you have please? AFAIK there is no Medsense CPAP. It's important to get this right so that people can make sensible suggestions.
The "something" can be anything at all.
As usual, the DME turns them loose with NO information.

Froggy, you may be right, but it's probably best not to guess about medical matters.

Re: Medsense 10 - water draining?
Yeah, it would be just like some company to fudge the name just enough to fool patients.

Re: Medsense 10 - water draining?
First, as Froggy said, it's a "Resmed Airsense 10" machine, use the correct terms when searching for answers on the internet and you'll get more relevant results.
Secondly, the 'black tube' sounds like the connection to the sham, destructive socalled "soclean" machine, the tube is used to inject destructive ozone into the machine, which voids the warranty. Plug the tube, and try to find an unadulterated chamber lid. return the 'soclean' and demand a refund.
