ResMed DC/DC converter

Post by Smitty55 » Sun Mar 27, 2022 3:50 pm

I couldn’t find an anything in search. I’d like to use a ResMed DC converter in my motorhome but the bedroom’s in the rear & the battery box is about 16 feet away, can you make new battery leads that long? (That are safe to use) I want to stay away from a portable power station for the simple reason we don’t dry camp a lot & I don’t want to need it & realize it’s not charged. I may have to go with a pure sine wave inverter.

Forgot to proof read. I’m meaning longer leads for the adapter not battery cables

If it were mine I would run the battery leads and mount a 12v receptacle near the bed. If you don't feel comfortable doing that you will have to hire someone to do it or use a portable jumper box - you can use two for long trips so one can charge. You should be able to charge them when you run the generator or get some solar panels too.

But I would also bring the AC adapter to use when I could.

What make & model RV? Diesel or gas?

Thor Freedom Elite FE24. Diesel on a Sprinter chassis. I hadn’t thought of that, it would be easy to run wires along the frame and come up next to what Thor calls the CPAP machine shelf.

I tapped into the reading light next to the bed in my old camper. The existing LED lights barely loaded the circuit, and the humidifier always stayed home.

Or you can buy an extension cord: https://www.amazon.com/25FT-Cigarette-L ... 143&sr=8-4
