Machine tipped on side; water coming into mask

Post by dh37 » Thu Mar 24, 2022 6:08 am

Went to bed; woke up 20 min later with ResMed Airsense 10 tilted and some water coming into the mask. (Was tilted about 45 deg, not 90.)

Machine seems to work fine; is there any chance the water got somewhere it shouldn't have and damaged something?

Only time will tell, but you may have gotten lucky if everything still works.

And please do come back and let us know either way.
This is how we learn.

I think you'll be fine for a couple reasons:
  • One of the nice design features of the ResMed humidifier tank is the Airflow tubes. If you look at a tank, the path that leads to the mask is immediately below the path tube that leads back to the circuitry. Because of this, tilting the device (with water) into the tubes will more likely fill the tube leading to the mask, while still keeping the tube that leads to the machine empty.
  • Your machine was still working, often water problems will manifest early.
One other thing you might have going for you, but not mentioned; is the use of distilled water.

Distilled water, coming in contact with electrical and electronic components is often not a problem. Water containing elements such as minerals that creates a path for electrons to flow.

This is one clear advantage of Distilled over Tap-water
