I can't help thinking somewhere in the universe there has to be something better than glycine. Has to be.

first night
3000 mg at bedtime
slept straight through for five hours
lay in bed for another 1.5 hours listening to a podcast
did drift off a bit
not enough
would love to get 7 hours :(

Thinking to take 3000 mg each of the next few nights. If no improvement, will take 1000 mg until the bottle is empty.

Granny, the correct dosage is 3000 mg, not 300.

zonker, wow! I'm really surprised the 3 grams did not help you sleep. I guess we're just all different. :|
the SIX grams didn't do much, either.

lights out 11PM. woke at 2:23am then 4:45am then 5:55am. got up to pee then slept til 7 then slept til 8.

this is pretty much my pattern without glycine.

i'm not surprised. i'm more surprised when something actually works. like the foam cervical collar. or the scunci method. or flonase.

will carry on and see what transpires. if anything good happens, will let y'all know.

Edited!

Felt like a horse swallowing three 1000 mg capsules.

Reminded of a friend who got a fish oil capsule caught. He summoned EMTs, and they stayed with him until the capsule dissolved.

zonker and Granny, I guess it's like most natural supplements; they work, but not for everyone. Actually, it's true of medicines as well. Tylenol does nothing at all for me for pain. I may as well eat M&Ms. As to the glycine, it sounds like you both intend to try it for a bit longer. It's supposed to have other good health effects as well, so it's worth continuing. I sure hope it starts to help you sleep!

This is going to be another one of those things that come with that big old YMMV.
To be honest....I don't know much in life that doesn't.
