I've attached a CSR night (the worst of three nights in the last 65 days). On that night there were durations of 40 and 43 minutes. Do you think that looks different from the example you posted??
Does look similar but of shorter duration than the guy my example was from...he had much, much worse nights and it was every single night and not sporadic as yours....and he had known congestive heart issues long before he was ever put on cpap for the OSA. I don't remember if I ever saw his sleep study results to see if the centrals and CSR were present on the diagnostic sleep study.

In all honesty this is above my pay grade and comfort level to advise because I don't know enough about it to do much but muse a bit about it. This is where I always say "something for you to have a chat with your doctor about and see if he is concerned or not".
There's just too much stuff that I don't know about you or your medical history and this sort of stuff in general.
If you didn't have doctors who were actively working with you I might try to dig a bit deeper (but still tell someone to get a doctor if they didn't have one) but you do have doctors who are aware of the situation and are actively working on it.

I do not know where the line in the sand is for doctors to adopt a wait and see approach for sporadic CSR that isn't exactly short lived and pretty much looks like classic CSR.
This is where and why the docs earn the big bucks.

I'm not all that worried about heart failure (as suggested by the sleep doctor) as recent echocardiograms don't show any evidence of that condition. I'm just remarking that I thought the proximity of CSR episodes and AFIB episodes was unusual and or odd. (But it was somewhat unnerving to have the sleep doc suggest undiagnosed HF)

I really appreciate your acknowledging that unraveling my condition is 'above your paygrade' and I don't expect you to somehow diagnose. Perhaps what I am looking for is others opinions as to what I can do to best help my doctors to make good evaluations.

Case in point: Respirator99's suggestion to get a hold of the full sleep study report. Had I asked for that back in June, I could have made sure that the sleep doc realized that the study was non-representative. (despite the fact that even just a quick glance at the graphics should have alerted him)

As to having the doctors actively working with me - if there one principle that has to be reinforced it that patients have to advocate for themselves. Within reason, patients have to be squeaky wheels to get things done.

Thanks for your help and advice

One often-overlooked part of the clinical definition of Cheyne-Stokes Respiration is that the attack must last 45 minutes or more, so you're right on the borderline of it being a clinical condition. As Pugsy said, this is getting outside the area we're comfortable with. It needs a team approach with your cardiologist and sleep doctor working together to unravel what's causing what's causing what, and how to treat it. Doctors tend to work in speciality silos, so it will be up to you as the informed patient to bring them together as much as possible.
