Thanks to you I did it!

I MADE IT. After 21 days and mucho dollars in accessories, I have conquered CPAP, or APAP as it were. Yes, I will need to continue to improve my AHI's, now currently around 3. Despite the fact that I am an old retired RN who knew I had to do this and I have incredible self control, I honestly do not think I could have continued on this journey without CPAPTalk. I have my first follow up appointment at the sleep clinic in a week or so and I intend to tell them to refer all new users to this site.

The PadaCheek liner made a significant difference in comfort last night. I ordered a buckwheat pillow that hopefully will be my last accessory.

The only problem I have now is finding a place to store all of the old pillows. Funny how you try to downsize when you get older and end up upsizing in health related items, lol.

Thank you all for taking the time to encourage me, to spend time answering posts...sometimes at great length.

Hugs

Sherry

Now that you're past the initial adjustment period, post dome OSCAR charts and see if there's anything that can be done to fast-track lowering your AHI.

I saved my old pillows until I had a small, clean bagful.
Since a couple (or five) years had passed, with no reuse solutions, I tossed them.
Now, I just toss the old ones right away.
Nobody wants to recycle those suckers.
One problem down--now to address my hoard of mask frames, old hoses, and tanks.
Why do I have to choose between a clean planet or a clean house?

I do not have Oscar yet. I wanted to conquer sleeping with all of this stuff, getting the right accessories for me, etc., and then worry about tweaking to get the best possible results. But I will do that at some point. Thank you for the suggestion. I am not quite sure how Oscar works yet with an SD card?

Hey, Sherri, that's great news! It'll keep getting better, I feel sure.

DS made an excellent suggestion there. What you need to get started with Oscar: an SD card in your machine, a laptop or desktop computer, and a way to read the SD card. (Some computers have a slot built in; for others you'll need a plug-in card reader.)

Then you go to the link (see below). I'd suggest you read the Oscar Installation and Data Migration Guide before you get started; I didn't and wished I had! (You need to scroll down a little to find the link to it.) Then you follow instructions for downloading the software and take it from there. We'd be happy to help at any step along the way.
Oscar software is available at https://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/

Good morning. I decided to download OSCAR to my new Macbook Air, but gave up after 20m mins. From the link you sent me I get the message "Error occurred while downloading updates." I interpret that to mean that this link is an update link and not the original OSCAR link. I searched for that link but cannot find it. I read all the installation instructions but still cannot get past this error message. Any help would be appreciated. I really need to get it, lol. My last two nights I have slept well, no leaks, but AHI's are climbing. From 3 to 11 yesterday and 14 today. Something is going on for sure.

I don't know about Macs at all but that link I posted is indeed where the software program can be downloaded and isn't some sort of "update" link.
It is the official download link for the entire software package.

If you continue to have problems downloading OSCAR can you post in this thread to get the attention of the members who can help sort out Mac problems

Thanks for your help. I had forgotten the Cardinal Rule for working with computers. It was the solution I was taught many decades ago at work when the fledgling IT people would tell you (no matter what the problem was) to REBOOT. I did and all is well. Now off to get an SD card and a card reader.
