DreamStation user help

Post by TowsonTownT » Mon Aug 16, 2021 3:32 pm

Hi - I just went on to cpap to see about replacing my mask and found out about the recall. I see a lot of threads on this but I'm still not sure which device to buy to replace it which I want to do as soon as possible. I have the DreamStation Auto CPAP Hum DOM unit along with the hose and nosemask that I wash every day. I am looking at replacements but want to check here before I purchase. Am I right in thinking the ResMed AirSense10 AutoSet CPAP Machine with HumidAi Heated Humidifier is a direct replacement for the unit I have? Also, if I get this I won't be able to get a mask right away, will my current mask and hose work on other devices?

welcome to the zoo!

the answers to your questions are all yes.

though, if you can get the FOR HER model, do so, even in you aren't a her.

it has an extra algorithm which may or may not be needed for you. other than that, go with the other one.

good luck!

eta: the only difference would be if you have a heated hose with your current machine, THAT won't cross over.

No. The ResMed is a better machine with a better algorithm. Your settings may change because the algorithm is more efficient at treating sleep apnea.

Most hoses work on most machines and masks, so not a problem, but you also don't need to wash the hoses all the time, or even some of the time unless you actually see anything in there - very many of us never do them at all (the air only goes one way).

For the hose it will depend on which hose you are currently using on the DreamStation.
If it is the heated hose it won't work on any other machine but if it is a non heated hose it will work on any other machine.
Doesn't matter if it is a non heated slimline hose or standard diameter hose...all the couplings for attaching to the machine and any mask are going to be universal.

So your mask attaches to the hose...it will attach to any hose and even if you get a new heated hose with the new machine it will still fit. So there is no need for a new mask. Pretty much all masks will work with any hose with the exception of a couple of masks designed to be used only with one of those tiny travel machines.

The ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet is an excellent choice for a machine. I highly recommend it.
