Why cant I keep my mask on!

Post by DaveS_ » Mon Aug 09, 2021 1:33 pm

I dunno why, but most nights there's a period where I seem to just take it off (I dont remember doing it) then I apparantly put it back on. It's frustrating. Also I feel like something is not right with my settings since I switched to Resmed from Dreamstation.

The two machines have different algorithms so don't report exactly the same thing.

We could help more if the graphs and other info were larger - can't read it now.

I have a 34" monitor, I will try changing the resolution.

Try taping the straps of the mask to your skin so that when you try to remove the mask in the middle of the night it creates a bit of discomfort and causes you to wake up enough that you can stop the unwanted behavior.

How long have you been on cpap?

Taping is even more effective if you get a little HAIR under it.

Since the end of February. I think one of my main problems is I'm not getting enough sleep. My wife says I flail around a lot in my sleep, waving my hands around and stuff like that. I am a veteran who saw combat, sometimes I'm still fighting them while I'm sleeping LOL.

As a side note...there's a free app call "Dream Talk" that is basically something that you leave running on your phone when going to sleep. Then if it hears you "dream talking" in the middle of the night, it will record it and let you play it back in the a.m. Might be something to download/play with...just to see (i.e. hear) if there is anything that accompanies your waking up. The Free version will record enough for you to play with the app.

I often recommend it to anyone who "thinks" they might have sleep apnea...as a simple first start to possibly pick up hearing them gasping for air in the night.
One guy played back a recording for his doc - he was then scheduled for a sleep study!

iOS ---> https://apps.apple.com/us/app/dream-tal ... d445472628

Android ---> https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... n_US&gl=US

There are other similar apps out there as well...

I leave it up to you to figure it out!
