So one week on new Resmed machine, how does it look?

Post by DaveS_ » Sun Aug 01, 2021 11:47 am

Finally feeling like I have a machine that is working for me. My usage is up every night, I feel better than I did with the dreamstation. Just wondering what you all see here, and should I be doing anything different. Thanks!

Do you feel you're sleeping soundly during the night? And how are you feeling during the day? Those are crucial pieces of information.

The only thing that jumps out at me is the limited sleep time. Is that typical for you?

I feel really good to be honest. I fall asleep quickly and the time you see that I slept is actually about an hour less that what shows becuase last night I fell asleep on the couch for a bit then went to bed. Most nights I get about 6 hrs.

If you're feeling great during the day, that's wonderful. While six hours is enough for some people, your falling asleep on the couch may be telling you to try sleeping longer....

Falling asleep on the couch tells me that after working a 12 hour shift, I was tired lol

Falling asleep on the couch and then getting up to go to bed messes with the number of hours you will eventually be sleeping in the bed and using the machine.
It qualifies as a "nap" and naps are a no no late in the day when people aren't sleeping long enough.

It's hard I know...but the nap is affecting the number of hours asleep in bed in a negative way.
Need to try to break that habit if you can.

Remember the time on the couch is sleep that is untreated sleep apnea sleep which is bad....unless you are using the mask and machine during the nap on the couch.
Golden rule...never sleep without the mask and machine because that is untreated apnea sleep.

I only feel like napping when I am sick.
Then I follow the "cat protocol", where I curl up and sleep until I feel better.
Feeling better only happens when I use my cpap.
