new BIPAP can't sleep

My recent study showed that a CPAP would no longer help me which I had figured out anyway. I got my new BIPAP today. It is making me breathe so deeply that I can't fall asleep. I don't breathe this deeply when I am awake. I realize there is an adjustment time, but how long? Should I try some melatonin and keep trying to go to sleep?

i'm not knowledgeable about bilevel machines, but someone will be along soon who is.

in the meantime, can you tell us which bilevel machine you have? what was your previous machine? do you know what your current settings are? do you know what your previous settings were?

yeah, i know, it's a lot of questions. but the experts here will want to know this information so that they can better help you with your therapy.

Zonker is right. We need to know your machine model, pressure settings, and pressure settings on the previous machine used. Why was your CPAP no longer helping? Do you have central apnea?

When changing machines and/or pressure settings, sometimes we perceive something to be bothersome when we are awake. But when we fall asleep, we breathe gently and easily. On the other hand, the new pressure settings could be a problem. Give us more info.

Sit up and watch tv or read wearing it. Its a good way to adjust to it before trying to lay there and sleep with it on. I have a bilevel. I never had a plain cpap so I can't speak to the differences but mine doesn't make me breath any deeper than I normally would.
