I'm not saying they close it, but when it's my allergy season, it does get pretty irritated and itchy and feels swollen. Not to mentiion gunked up. I do get more apneas at that time so I was just wondering.

Re: cervical collar
You are correct. Allergies can cause inflammation and swelling. The airway becomes smaller and is more easily collapsed.ILoveFlowers wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 10:59 amwhen it's my allergy season, it does get pretty irritated and itchy and feels swollen. aerophagia
I'm having sudden onset of aerophagia and I'm not sure what's causing it. I'm having significant nasal congestion due to allergies. I switched to the AirTouch full face mask the past couple of nights. I've tried positional changes...sleeping on left side, right side, and sleeping with the head of the bed inclined about 30 degrees. None of these have helped. My pressure is currently at 6. Air temp 72, humidity 3. I've also noticed a dry cough at the initiation of placing the mask. Does anyone have any ideas about the aerophagia? I'm surprised to have this at such a low pressure. I've been on cpap for 3 weeks, and this is the first trouble I've had with aerophagia.

Re: Aerophagia
Like you I also tried changing sleeping positions and added a bed wedge, but neither helped.
My biggest cause of aerophagia was from GERD/heartburn while sleeping. My ENT said the bodies reaction to heartburn is to swallow more, which was causing me to gulp air. He recommended taking 1 or 2 20mg famotidine tablets about an hour before going to bed and no eating within 3 hours of bedtime. For me that helped considerably. I also switched from a FFM to nasal pillow and started using a cervical collar. The combination resolved my aerophagia issues.
Hope it helps.

use of grommets (ear tubes) and CPAP
Hi! Has anyone had experience (good or bad) with having grommets (ear tubes) and CPAP (at the same time)? If so, please share your experience.
I'm having increased middle ear air pressure and fluid with use of CPAP. I've tried decongestants, antihistamines, and lower pressures...but it does not alleviate the problem. I'd be so grateful if anyone would share their experiences with use of CPAP and ear tubes. I see my ENT next week.

Would you stop posting all over the place and stick to your OWN thread, plus don't start a new topic in someone else's thread! No one can follow all your stuff anymore or respond meaningfully to any of it... or do you not care and just want to see your name in lights?
