Upgrading from SleepyHead to OSCAR

Post by jim22 » Sat Jul 03, 2021 8:02 am

I'm switching to a new machine, I thought it might be a good time to upgrade from SleepyHead to OSCAR. I downloaded and installed, and attempted to migrate my SleepyHead data, but now it's asking to upgrade databases and says it will need to re-import data from the SD Card. I inserted the SD card from my latest machine, and it seemed to be importing, but then came back around to asking the same question. Any hints?

Thanks,
Jim

What version of SleepyHead were you using and what version of OSCAR? What type of CPAP machine is your data from? How many machines are in your profile?

The migration process will create a new database with the files set for OSCAR use. When you open the profile, OSCAR may need to upgrade the databases and give you a prompt asking if that is ok. Normally OSCAR will not ask for your SD card. Have you ever disabled backups in OSCAR?

My running version of SleepyHead is V0.9.5 (testing). Oscar is version v1.2.0, I downloaded the 32-bit windows version. The last 7 years of data was from 3 different Phillips Respironics Remstar Auto machines. As soon as I open it, after the release notes dialog, I get a dialog that says it "needs to upgrade its database for Philips Respironics RemStar Auto with A-Flex P113535235551". It says it does not yet have any automatic card backups, and says that it means I will need to import the machine data again afterwards from my own backups or data card. If I say NO, it exits. If I say yes I get another dialog that says it will start the import wizard to reinstall the data. On the next screen there is a progress bar, and when it finishes it is prompting for a directory.

The "directory" it is looking for is that of the SD card. (We have already improved the dialog title for the next release to make it clear that is what OSCAR wants you to provide.)

Do you still have the SD cards from the old machines? If not, the best solution may be to keep using SH for your old data and OSCAR for your new machine. Make sure you don't disable backups in File/Preferences.

That's about how I figured it was going to go. I went through the install again and bypassed the migration. I have the SD cards for two of the three machines, and the one that I don't have was only used for a few months before it was replaced under warranty. I was able to import the cards I have into OSCAR and I appear to be up and running. Thanks for the help!

My new machine is a Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset. It didn't actually come with an SD card, I found a 2GB microSD that was used in an old cell phone and an adapter and it appears to be working, I'll try to import data tomorrow.

My impressions so far, switching from a Phillips Respironics Remstar Auto to the Resmed Airsense: I dialed the starting pressure back from 11.0 to 10.0, it seems a little more stout than the old machine. I set the EPR to 2. It feels a little different, I hope I can sleep ok with it. We shall see.

Jim
