What about all the other brands?

Post by D.H. » Mon Jun 14, 2021 8:51 pm

As just about everybody on this frum knows, Philips recalled most if not all of the CPAPs that are in use.

Since the problem seems to be the insulation they used, I have to wonder if the other makes are also using the same (or an equally dangerous) insulation.

For tonight, I will trot out my old F&P from 2005. But I have to wonder about that one too.

So far the only other mention as to the foam problems has been with the ResMed machines directly related to using the ozone cleaning devices.

I would assume that since ResMed has only mentioned this as in relation to ozone degrading the foam that they don't have the same problem as Respironics. Probably don't use the same kind of foam would be my best guess.

We have known about ResMed's problem with ozone cleaning devices since last year. They apparently think the problem is limited to the ozone use since they decided to void warranties rather than recall.

Regarding the product that Squid13 recommended

Post by D.H. » Tue Jun 15, 2021 2:10 pm

This product claims only to filter out living things, not particles or gasses.

It will stop the small particle pieces of insulation that is breaking away inside that is the reason for the recall.
