Using machine after 4 year hiatus

Post by districtsleepy » Wed Jun 09, 2021 8:21 pm

I was prescribed a ResMed Airsense 10 Autoset in 2016 when I had Aetna insurance. I had some complications that required pausing CPAP therapy to see a sinus specialist and I never restarted it. I recently got an Apple Watch and saw that my oxygen levels haven't been great at night, which has scared me into wanting to retry CPAP.

I no longer have Aetna and now am on Cigna insurance. If I got a new mask and tubing, would it be safe to try out the machine that's been sitting in my closet? Would it dial back home to Aetna and get me in trouble? Or could do I need to worry about sanitation/infection? What are the pros and cons of this approach vs. starting all over with my new insurance?

do it. no, it's not going to "phone home" to aetna,. it's your machine to do with as you will.

just curious; why do you want a new mask and tube?

and no worries about sanitation. you don't breath in anything that through the machine that you don't breath into your lungs without the machine anyway.

many people here, including me, go their own way. never had insurance pay for any of my stuff. i realize i'm privileged and some people have to go through insurance. but frankly after reading some of the hassles folk have on here with insurance, i'm rather glad i don't use it.

anyway, good luck!

If you end up not using your machine let me know I'll send you a label to ship it to me.
