AHI of 15 means OSA is at least part of the problem.
How big of a problem is dependent on not only how many of the apnea events you had but how long were they in terms of how long they lasted. If very long in duration it's possible to have significant oxygen level drops. My AHI during the sleep study was only 12 during non REM sleep but 50 plus during REM but I wasn't getting hardly any REM...but my apnea events were long enough to cause oxygen levels to drop to 73%. So some of my "12 per hour average" were almost a minute long.
There's a lot more to sleep apnea than just the average number of events per hour. Sometimes they come in clusters which is worse.
Sometimes related to sleeping position and/or REM stage sleep like mine was.
It only takes an AHI of 5 or more to earn you the diagnosis. 15 per hour is the high end of mild category.
Think of it this way...that's averaging a sleep disturbance every 4 minutes. How much restorative sleep do you think you would get if I came over to your house and sat by your bed and every 4 minutes I poked you with a stick and woke you up....all night long every 4 minutes.
Bet you would feel like crap for sure.
I think you have 2 problems....the OSA and the neck issues.
Your sleep doctor is likely going to be totally useless when it comes to the neck issues.
Your neck doctor is going to be totally useless when it comes to the apnea issues.
It is just what it is.

Re: Really Struggling
the adjustment varies from person to person. there are folk who take to it right away. (i think forum friend palerider was like that) others take a long time, indeed. remember, you've had this apnea thing for years without knowing it.theonetruedevo wrote: ↑Fri May 28, 2021 2:29 pm
How long does that adjustment period usually take? I have had this machine since mid-February and am coming up on a couple months with this mask that is comfortable. Right now it generally doesn't bother me to wear. Sometimes I roll over in such a way that I get little blasts of air hitting me in the eyes, but once I adjust the mask or how I'm laying that goes away.
it's hard, but try to be patient and some day soon, it'll happen for you.
good luck!
