Post by Dsmith317 » Thu Apr 15, 2021 4:48 pm

My heart rate while sleeping using CPAP go to 100-120bpm. As soon as I take it off it deceases to 80-100 bpm. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

welcome to the zoo!

please let us know what your equipment is; machine and mask please.

sorry if you've filled out the equipment profile. the forum is borked and it won't show up.

good luck!

OH! and if you happen to know what pressure you're set at, we'd like to know that as well.

I think that's something to discuss with your doctor....I think for most people heart rate drops while using CPAP.....I have used a heart monitor and I know my heart rate at night is in the 50s.....During the day it's 70s-80s.

Have you been diagnosed with AFib?

Are you using a recording pulse-oximeter that measures your pulse continuously over time? Or, an instantaneous meter that measures at points in time?

Are you new to CPAP? Could it be that you are anxious about breathing with the mask on and this anxiety is driving your pulse up?

CPAP is not known to increase the pulse rate.

I am on apap BECAUSE I had an episode of A-Fib. My heart doctor said that sleep apnea is a big cause of A-Fib, so he had me do a sleep study. I have never had it again since the one occurrence back in April of 2018. Using a pap machine has certainly not made it come back. Rather it has most likely protected me from it occurring again.
Machine: Resmed AirSense 10 Autoset For Her
Mask: Bleep Dreamport mask system

I’m also experiencing this. Trying to use the CPAP to help my heart symptoms of sleep apnea and so far it seems to be worsening them. I wake up with a racing heart when wearing my machine. I don’t know what to do. Currently wearing a zio heart monitor for 2 weeks to see if we can catch some activity. Just because a symptom isn’t common, doesn’t mean that you are wrong about it.

What is your AHI? What is your leak level? As a start, you need to know these numbers. You could be having long apneas that drive your heart rate up and wake you up.

CPAP is not magic. It needs to be optimized by the user to be effective.
