Using Mouth Tape and Still Have Dry Mouth
Been using Somnifix to keep mouth taped shut for over month. Still very dry mouth where it wakes me. Humidity set to max of 8 on Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset for Her machine. Still a little water left in chamber. Used N20 and N30 nasal masks. Any ideas why mouth still dry?

No meds. Pressure: tried 11 then 9 then 9.2
Re: Using Mouth Tape and Still Have Dry Mouth
Do you have any sense of your tongue placement?
If the tongue is not on the roof of the mouth, sealing off the mouth from the rest of the airway, air is still going to fill the mouth and dry out the mucosa. Try practicing placing your tongue behind the front teeth on that ridge of gum before the palate. Practice all day long unless you are eating or talking. That may help you at night.
Some people cannot seal it off. Place your tongue in that spot, pinch off your nose, now try to open your mouth (keep your tongue in that spot) and see if you can breathe through your mouth. If you can, your tongue isn't sealing it off.

Re: Using Mouth Tape and Still Have Dry Mouth
Yeah I get dry mouth too even if my mouth is totally sealed in the morning.
It is worse when I use antihistamines, which do tend to stop salivation.

- Air is exiting through the vent hole in Somnifix. This will dry the mouth quickly.
- Air pressure in mouth prevents flow from saliva glands.
No easy fixes.
Carefully apply a small dab of dry mouth gel between teeth and gums just before taping up.
