Shame on that woman.
Sadly, too many refuse to do THEIR JOB, so we must do it ourselves.

Did you have a titration study where they figured out what your setting should be? I got my first machine earlier this month and I knew nothing as well and kept getting the waking up feeling like I could breathe also. I got got the under water feeling so I turned the humidity down and the heated tubing off and that helped. Also my regular doc didn’t know much and sent me to a sleep doctor and that doctor changed my settings from a fixed pressure to a range which also helped. I agree with the people above and feel like the people that should be helping really don’t know very much and I really do need to learn as much as possible. I’m almost a month in and still feel clueless.

Titration studies are so often inaccurate that some insurance companies skip them altogether,
providing the patient with an apap, and a CLASS.
Titration studies are often viewed as a cash cow--
this is probably why the REAL manual is not boxed with the machine.
Luckily, you can get the PDF for free from apneaboard.

You have to request manuals at the apneaboard via email...instructions about 2/3 down the main page
https://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap- ... tup-manual

Or you can just save a link to it at some other website and not have to email a request and wait for a reply.
https://www.respshop.com/manuals/ResMed ... %20her.pdf
It's a combo manual which covers all the AirSense 10 models....which is what you would get from the apneaboard.

I have the user manual right here: Phillips Respironics DreamStation CPAP, CPAP Pro, Auto CPAP. I've read this manual through three times. It says nothing about my issues.
They use the same booklet for three different models of the PR Dreamstation. We need to figure out which one of those you have. I don't have that machines so I can't tell you where to look, but someone else can probably tell you.

I can tell from your posts that you have what it takes to be a successful CPAP user. You're persistent and you are asking questions. You've gotten lousy help from the so-called professionals, but we can help you.

So the first thing to do is figure out what model, and then we can help you figure out the settings. As already speculated, more than likely your machine starts with a ramp (very low pressure with the idea that you can fall asleep before full pressure--but it makes most people feel like they are suffocating) and a wide open pressure to determine what your pressure needs to be (if that's the case you might have the Auto model). Both these things can make you feel like you are suffocating, and because they start too low they tend to "chase the apneas" and go too high-- that's probably what woke you up at 12:30.

Once you get the software up and running we'll be able to see settings and make suggestions.

And once you know what mask you are using we can see what tweaks might help you with comfort and leaks.

So hang in there, don't give up. We can help.
