I just wanted to start this line with peoples comments about their severity of symptoms. I have an AHI of 16 no complete but all partials. When and if I get a full nights sleep I feel decent, but what I've discovered at 41 is I've got some type of chronic fatique going on. On most days my nervous system is out of sink. I'm relatively stocky but at 5.11 190 i'm lean enough but do have a recessed chin. Sleeping on my side and hoping to get cpap working is my goal to get in AHI <5 range. Just feeling nothing is working to improve my daily life. I have to be in bed 11 hours. And if I don't get any stage 3 or 4 sleep my next day is comprimised. 2 years of this and just wondering how others finally made cpap work for them that this nightmare finally started fading.
Rick.
comparing severity
I had a sleep study done 1/4/05. I had a total of 6 hours and 55 minutes of recorded time with a sleep time of 3 hours and 29 minutes. I have trouble falling asleep. Half of my test time was spent trying to go to sleep. My report says that there was a total of 131 arousals occuring at a rate of 37.6 per hour. There was a total of 96 apneas all obstructive in nature and a total of 30 obstructive hypopnea. The lowest SA02 was 82% associated with a 47 second obstructive apnea.
The report says that I have severe obstructive sleep apnea.
I must get used to my CPap due to the severity of my condition. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 1995 and my sleep Doctor told me that sleep apnea can cause Fibromyalgia to develop due to lack of quality of sleep. I know my fibromyalgia sure causes severe muscle spasm pain. Hopefully the CPap will help this pain from the fibromyalgia.
