Sometimes the electrical connect right at the back of the machine is fiddly and doesn't want to connect solidly. So make sure it is pushed in solid.

Take the machine out of the bedroom and off the power bar to the kitchen and plug it directly into the outlet on the kitchen counter.
Just because the power bar is lit up doesn't mean it might not have a problem at the plug that you are using on the power bar.
I have had that happen.

Also, check where the power cord from the outlet plugs in to the power brick and make sure it is all the way in. The power brick has a green LED when it is working...

Glad it was an easy fix. The reason I mention first is I have sometimes gone in to use it and it wouldn't come on and I never moved it or anything. What the heck...it worked fine the night before...anyway I have found that sometimes it just seems to work itself loose right at the machine to power cord connection. Now it might be my cats walking on things on that night table..
My point is that sometimes it seems in place but it just isn't quite plugged in far enough to get the proper electric connection.

Good luck with hubby and his new machine. If you need anything else you know we are here to help.
