Mask advice

Post by BryanB5 » Tue Sep 08, 2020 12:32 pm

I’ve got a Mirage Quattro mask that I’ve used for >10 years. I’ve traded out the seal part that goes against your face a few times but overall it works well. Lately the seal hasn’t been great so I was going to get a new seal, but I have a couple of other issues. I found out that this mask shouldn’t have to really be tight to maintain a good seal and this one always has. It’s not uncomfortable but it does press on the bridge of my nose (no breakdown but occasionally there will be a mark in the morning). Also, the head strap doesn’t stay Velcro-Ed well. It seems to always come apart at the top right hand attachment. It’s like the Velcro doesn’t stick well. I thought maybe it was just worn out (it was pretty old) but it didn’t have problems anywhere else. I replaced it and the new one does the same thing. In the same place. Thoughts? Should I look for a different mask? Or just replace the seal and strap?
Thanks!

I used the Quattro fot 8 years without any problems. About 2 years ago I tried the Fisher & Paykel Simplus..It is a little less bulky than the Quattro, but still has the forehead support which adds support to the mask. I like the Simplus a lot...and you are right, Full Face Masks should not be worn tight. Recently F& P came out with a mask that is advertised as an upgrade to the Simplus. It's called the Vitera. I have one and I have used it for a couple months and then went back to the Simplus.
