I have been on CPAP therapy for years.
A couple of times, I’ve woken up in the morning feeling like I can’t exhale, but I can inhale.
It feels like I’m having trouble breathing.
After I take my mask off, I’m fine.
It’s so scary!
I went to a sleep dr and he downloaded my card info, said it was good and adjusted the settings on my machine.
He said if it continues, I’ll have to have another sleep study to see if I need a BiPAP machine.
I’m wondering if the nasal mask i use is putting too much concentrated air in and if a full face mask would make a difference.
Anybody else experience this?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Problems exhaling and scared
We need more information.
What machine you are currently using and exactly what ALL the settings are that are being used.
You haven't given us anything concrete to form any ideas on.
What you describe...a problem exhaling...isn't that unusual and can often be fixed with some minor tweaks of the settings or adding more exhale relief if at all possible with your current machine.
Impossible to know what to offer without knowing what machine is currently being used and what settings on that machine.

This happens to me sometimes when I first turn on a side. In my case it's because my sinus is congested. I also remember this feeling from my sleep study when cpap was first turned on.Jazzmynn1 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 11:20 pmI have been on CPAP therapy for years.

In my case I have to just work through it. Eventually, in not that much time, it clears up. Sometimes I have to let a breath out of my mouth to feel capable of breathing. Is this what you are experiencing? If you try to force air out does it feel restricted?
Sleep loss is a terrible thing. People get grumpy, short-tempered, etc. That happens here even among the generally friendly. Try not to take it personally.
Re: Problems exhaling and scared
I had this happen only once in blue moon for my self so I know your feelings, We had the power go out while sleeping and the machine went down. Natural instinct is to wake up and pull the mask off like you did. One important mention is I would also do is look at your power source going into the Cpap machine to make sure it is all the way in. I had this also happen once and the darn thing started to act differently.
