GUSTAV - Power Failure Alert Works Fine

Post by FL andy » Sat Mar 12, 2005 1:31 pm

You asked to be notified about the loudness of the alarm 'Guest' recommended below. It is LOUD!!

There is a quiet temporary lower sound for 10 seconds before the "smoke detector alarm" type of electronic sound begins. The ten second wait is in case power just flickers on and off. The alarm is as loud or louder than my home smoke detector alarms.

The cost quoted in the quote below is higher than actual. The cost I paid is $36.70 plus $6.25 for USPS ground shipment from MI to FL. It arrived in two days. Use the URL below. It's a chicken farm supply house. (Can't let those little chicks get too cold).

Original thread was: What do you do when the power shuts off?

>[quote="Anonymous"]Good point about venting, Mikesus, I will look into the AGM Battery.

>The original question on this thread was what to do when the power goes out. If one doesn't wake up and just keeps breathing through the mask by-pass (when not in apnea) one won't know to connect the battery.

Item #G8380 · $49.99 Quantity:

>Plug into any 110 volt electrical outlet. When there is a power failure, electronics pulsating alarm will go off and red LED light will start flashing. If you have chicks or birds that need looking after when electricity goes off on a cold windy night, plug in this unit in your bedroom to wake you when the electricity goes off. Has a built-in 10 to 15 second delay so that short time power outage will not set the alarm off.

Power Failure Alert

Post by Susie » Fri Mar 18, 2005 12:44 am

Dear Andy, Thank you for your advice about a power failure alert. I just got my first c-pap respironics machine with a full face mask. I have not used it as I was afraid if the power went out I would not know about it and then may suffocate.

This would solve my problem. Does a power alert work with all machines? Thanks, Susie

You won't suffocate. It has a valve in it. Try it, turn your machine off, you will be able to breathe.
