Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep

Post by Notdamomma » Fri Jun 26, 2020 9:48 pm

ResMed10 w humidifier full face
CPAP User for about six weeks. In the beginning everything was great no problems at all. Loved it still do. Could tell an immediate difference. Started w problems w mask seal about two weeks in. Did my homework found out I needed to wash face every night and face mask every morning. Ok can do. Now, not sure what is up but I can take air in but in exhale it feels like I can't. It almost feels like I am suffocating. And the the ,"farts" are driving me up a tree. My app score has gone from 80s to 90s to way low. Mostly the mask adjustment. Last night I gave up and ripped it off. I couldn't get the mask to seal right at all.
Had first follow up today, not sure the nurse practices understood what is going on? She did say she would write the prescription for a new one and tubing. My ins. Will only cover new equip every three months and I have to continue use or pay the cost. Massive frustration. As I lay in th dark w farming sounds.

Please say which "Resmed 10" you're using - there are lots of them. And what mask - there are even more :) . Can't help without more info.

The "app" score is insignificant. No one sees it but you. The important things are how are you sleeping and your AHI (Number of events). , MOst insurance compliance is 3 months. During that period you must average at least 4 hours a night , 70% of the time during a 30 day period ((21 nights). It must be accomplished during the first 90 days. Once a year your doctor or NP must verify that you are using the machine in order for the insurance company to continue to pay for supplies. Many of the mask farts come from moisture. If your face is warm during the night and any sweat developes, air can seep out breaking the seal. Try a mask liner.

Try a new mask cushion.

Headgear may have relaxed. I always have to tighten it after the first few weeks of a new mask. Cushion could have a build up of face oils try soaking it in dawn dish soap if its not the foam one. Unless you tell us which mask all we really have are guesses. We can point you to more specific help, if we have more information.

Some good suggestions are coming in. I just wanted to mention that it'd be very helpful if you could fill out your profile with information about your machine and mask. That way everyone can see it easily and advise you better.
