ResMed VPAP Auto 25 tear down

Post by Scooter B » Fri Jun 26, 2020 2:21 pm

Does anyone know what type of screw fastener head ResMed used on it’s VPAP Auto 25?

I need to take one apart to see if I can repair it but I can’t see the screw heads well even with a flashlight and magnifying glass as they are set so deep inside bottom of machine. They appear most similar to Star Pattern drivers but not exactly the same. So far I have tried Star Pattern, SAE Hex(Allen) and Matrix Hex but nothing locks in to turn the screw.

(Longer explanation below if interested but not needed to answer question)

Currently I am using two different CPAP machines at two different locations; A ResMed S9 VPAP and my first CPAP that looks just like the ResMed VPAP Auto 25 but is CPAP only version. I split time between a HUD home I am fixing up in another town and my parents house so having one at each location makes life so much simpler with everything I have to remember to pack plus I have memory and brain fog issues due to Idiopathic Hypersomnia.

My new Sleep Med Dr is hassling me about using the older VPAP as it has no memory capability to document usage and she says she is legally required to document 70% use compliance for MC.

My Auto 25 model quit working when I accidentally packed it for a trip without emptying the water from humidifier chamber. I know the probability is low that I can repair it but I am experienced at soldering and an electric meter for voltage, current, resistance and continuity of signal paths etc. This is precisely why I refuse to pack up and transport my S9 twice a week. Although I am 100% compliant including naps I can’t provide documentation using the older CPAP. Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

If you applied power while it was wet there's likely corrosion at a minimum, and possibly bad parts.

Sorry, I don't know what screw is used...

The s9 uses a t10 torx I wouldn't be surprised if your older one does too, can't remember offhand if it's a security torx, but I don't think it is.
