Is this a power fail?
Is this a power fail?
My local power grid is less reliable than most 3rd world nations. I can't quite tell if the power failed overnight. I know I didn't turn my ResMed off to visit the bathroom - if I ever get up I leave it on but disconnect the hose.
Also: should I be using a UPS for this?

Strange that it is showing events during the off period...

I use a power failure light/alarm - https://www.amazon.com/Reliance-Control ... ref=sr_1_5

Unfortunately a UPS won't last long at all, so I guess it depends on how long your outages tend to be. With the humidifier on i think you might get a few hours, maybe 4. Hard for me to be sure because my experience is with a higher pressure. The power killer is the humidifier, it cuts run times in half.grounded wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 7:06 amMy local power grid is less reliable than most 3rd world nations. Problem 2 with apps I'd they are designed for shorter run times and the inverters in them can overheat when run for hours.
Problem 3 is the lead acid battery has a poor shelf life, at least in my experience.
I would be curious if anyone else has experience with them.

Re: Is this a power fail?
Can anyone confirm from the graph above the unit definitely lost power?

Re: Is this a power fail?
It's impossible to know for sure if what you see is a power related problem just from what is shown.
It could also be a problem writing data to the SD card.
It could maybe be a loose connection to the machine....could be a problem with the wall socket used.
Was there other evidence of power failure during the night that we normally see...like flashing clocks, etc.

Re: Is this a power fail?
I think all we can tell is that the machine was off, then on briefly, then off again, then on again. A power outage is likely, though, if you didn't turn the machine off and on and not remember doing that. I use the same circuit alarm that Chicago Granny has recommended. It works. The alarm is about the same db as an alarm clock.

Oh, Pugsy thought of some other scenarios -- great!

Re: Is this a power fail?
Another possible scenario...simply removing the mask during the night and not putting it back on until later and not having any memory of doing it.
Been there and done that myself.
Not so much lately but in the early days of my therapy I would do it probably once or twice a month.
Now I am not saying that is what happened here....and my first suspect in this situation would be power disruption but the question was ask if we could know for sure if it was power related and the answer with the other potential scenarios means...no..we can't know with absolute certainty from what we see.

Re: Is this a power fail?
If it was a power outage wouldn't you have evidence of that in other places? Maybe the clock on a microwave for example.

Re: Is this a power fail?
Looks to me like your leaks were so bad that the machine could tell that you had the mask on, if it HAD been a power fail/restart, then your pressure would have started at the ramp start pressure and gone up, which it doesn't look like it did.

Re: Is this a power fail?
The state of other appliances and clocks was mixed. Very strange. I have zero recollection of the incident but my wife told me she had woken me up because the machine was making a very loud noise and so I must’ve taken the mask off, and then later, apparently put it back on again. Definitely a bit disturbing that I have absolutely zero memory of any of that happening…
