When to worry about leak rates

Post by paultn » Mon Apr 27, 2020 12:04 pm

Hello,

I know leak rates have been addressed a lot. I am just wondering what is considered acceptable.
I have switched from an FFM to P10 Nasal pillows. The mask is much more comfortable and I am sleeping better I think. AHI is lower at 0.5 to 0.8 it looks like. However Leak rate is a much higher as I think I have air escaping my mouth.

I don't think I am opening my mouth as I tried a few nights using Tape on my mouth (Tape was a microfilm so air could still escape) but the leak rate was the same without the tape.

Should I just not worry about the leaks? When do you start to worry?

OSCAR shot is below. This is pretty typical what i have seen for the past 4 nights since switching to the P10.

Thanks for the help.

Your machine can compensate for leaks up to 24L...Yours are ok. AHI is good and you say you are sleeping well.

At the rate you are leaking I would not worry. (unless they are waking me up)

For me I do not tolerate over 10% Large Leak.

It also depends on: Are they scattered out over the night or is it one/several big constant leaks.

If you know they've been addressed a lot, then you should have already read the answer but you went ahead and asked.

If the leaks do not affect your sleep and they are low enough to not impact how well your machine treats your apneas, it's acceptable.
