aerophagia?

Post by warp3456 » Wed Apr 01, 2020 8:25 pm

I finally got a soft collar and my ahi now down to 1, 1.5' pressure set 5 to12, 90% never above 8" a couple of nights I've been wakening up with cramps ie 'aerophagia' should I adjust pressures? Also is it wise not to eat say after 7 pm if you retire at 11pm' ? Thank you in advance,

You can try the "Zonker Protocol"

Pioneered by member Zonker, he lowered his maximum to a point where he never experienced aerophagia. For you, somewhere near 8.

He then raised it by 0.2, the machines minimum, slowly over a long time. If he experienced aerophagia, he went back down and kept it there a while. Over a period of months he slowly got his pressure up to an acceptable level.

Remember, while you're capping your maximum below what the machine wants to go, you aren't receiving optimal therapy.

Eating within 3 hours of bedtime can give rise to gas, tooth decay, and other problems;
but the gas from indigestion is not the same as gulping room air while using cpap.
This constitutes aerophagia, and having both can be very uncomfortable.
I found that using apap was superior to cpap single pressure,
but sleeping on my left side was the most effective.

not only is it important to keep a goodly span of time between last meal and bedtime, it also depends largely on what you eat. a light dinner is going to settle in much easier than a huge spicy one.

makes me sad because i loves me some mexican or italian dinner!

Just a quick fix. Zonker lost his C when he gave you the url. The proper url is
