what is complex sleep apnea

hello can anyone on here explain to me what complex sleep apena is because I know I've have the condition ever since i was little. I was 1/14 oz at the same time I was hooked up to an alarm system that would alert doctors when I would stop breathing for a period of time when i was I am a little i'm a little bit on the heavy side weighing in at 265 pounds I know weight might have something to do with my condition. because I also have obstructive sleep apnea even if I lost like 45-50 pounds would I get off the machine?

OSA or obstructive sleep apnea....where the airway tissues are blocking the air flow...we try to move air but can't because of the blockage.

Central sleep apnea.....the airway is open but we make no effort to breathe or move air...

Complex Sleep apnea is when people have both of the above.

Some people have only OSA, some people have only the central apnea.....some people get both.
Sometimes some people have OSA and not central apneas but they get started on cpap and the cpap triggers central apneas.....they still have both kinds so they have Complex sleep apnea. Doesn't matter what causes it...if you have both it's called complex sleep apnea.

Now before a bunch of you guys who are seeing a handful of centrals on your software reports go saying you have complex sleep apnea because you have 1 central per hour....that's not the case or anywhere close.
It's normal to have a few centrals....everyone has them. You need to be having at least 5 per hour, every hour, all night long, every night to get the central sleep apnea diagnosis.
