I was told by my DME that THEY are asked by Tricare if I am being "compliant" before they will pay for my equipment.
Being "compliant" means that you're using your machine enough (generally the tragically low 4+ hours 75%+ of the time)

The DME assured me that THEY only know if I am compliant by using My Air.
And THAT is where the lie comes in, your data is sent to Resmed whether you use myair or not, all myair does is pull a small subset of the data down from the Resmed severs. Whether you use myair to look at that data or not, does not matter because the data is already at Resmed, and available for your DME to read.

I contacted the sleep clinic that I went to (military base). The sleep clinic technician stated that the reason why my prescription states that I am to use My Air is because that is how they determine if I am compliant,
That has nothing to do with YOUR using the myair viewing program.

so I am considering that to mean I MUST use My Air if I want insurance to pay.
You're wrong about that.

I really don't know what to believe or who to believe, everyone may be lying, I am well aware that DME's & sleep study clinics may be full of crap, but I figure there is no harm in my continuing to use My Air to perhaps make Tricare happy,
Once again,
You wake up and turn off the machine.
Machine sends data to Resmed sometime after that.
whether you use myair to look at that data or not does not matter because the data is already uploaded. the DME or whomever can then look at the upload to verify you've been using the machine.

I don't care if you use myair or not, all I care about is that it's misleading to newbies who might think that THEY might 'need' to use myair for anything at all.

More than likely the original intent was that you *register* your machine's serial number with Resmed so that they know which machine's data to pull down to verify your usage, and that had been corrupted into "you have to *use* myair all the time", which you don't.

Go ahead, quit using it, nobody will even know.

but I never look at the daily results anymore. I prefer Oscar. I did not know that the doctor can make prescription changes on the SD card. Good to know in case I am summoned back to the sleep clinic again. I will definitely bring my SD card just in case, but will never lug my machine to the next appointment.
They can also update your settings over the air when your machine checks in with your results.

If the dealer "left" the card out . . .
Let the doctor discover it ---and make a phone call.
Nothing makes a DME sweat like an angry doctor.
Let the fur fly.
The Resmed machines ship with SD Cards. My DME tried to keep it but I told them my sleep doctor told me to bring in the card with me. The DME said they can get the data without the card, but they gave me the card anyway.
The same DME opened a P10 mask fit pack, tested the Medium pillow on me and threw the other pillows in his desk drawer saying insurance only paid for one pillow.

thank-you for all the responses. Still haven't heard from my insurance provider (Humana Military), but I think I WILL stop using My Air.

DME's can be annoying & sneaky. My first DME (brick & Mortar), not only "stole" the SD card from my machine before giving it to me, they also broke open a "fit pack" package & only gave me the small cushion & kept the other cushions. I now use an online DME & have my equipment shipped to me, but I often get my new mask shipped in a plain plastic bag, so I know that it has been cannibalized as well. On occasion, I actually get a new mask in its original packaging. It makes me wonder if I am getting a "used" or "gently used" mask when it is sent in generic packaging.
