air blowing into mouth
air blowing into mouth
For quite a while I had a problem with air filling my mouth. This bothered my wife because the air would come out, making ridiculous sounds on the way. I sort of solved the problem by taping my mouth shut. That stopped the noise and made my wife happy, but air still filled my mouth. When I told the doctor about this solution she was seriously unhappy because I could vomit, and with my mouth sealed shut I could choke on it. She said I needed a bipap instead of a cpap. A bipap can have a lower pressure during exhale than a cpap. Her theory was that when I was exhaling, air would rush into my mouth. With lower pressure during exhaling, air would not constantly fill my mouth. It worked!!! Bipaps rock!!

Re: air blowing into mouth
Glad you got a BiLevel machine and that you have a working solution.
A lot of us tape, I don't think that taping is a serious vomiting concern.

If vomiting is a concern what was her feelings on full face masks ? Lol that would be harder than tape to get off.

Re: air blowing into mouth
I've heard of it happening to some rock stars (Jimi Hendrix, John Bonham) after 24 hour drug and drink binges.
I guess if you regularly pass out on the floor following 24 hour+ drink/drug binges then you'd need to be concerned about it.
