Hello - newbie here from SE WIsconsin.
I have a quick question regarding what I should expect as far as # of episodes while using a CPAP. I have used my equipment for 26 nights in a row since getting it. I started with an AirFit20 mask, but just recently changed to the AirTouch20 mask. My sleep test showed 80 episodes per hour prior. From using the CPAP, my best night was around 3 and my worst 12. Typical, common scores are between 5-6.5. I recognize dropping from 80 to that level is a good thing. I guess I just expected the number to be consistently below 5, and I'm not there. Should I be at a lower number of episodes or am I doing ok?
My unit is set for 5-20 pressure. Most mornings the unit shows a pressure number between 12-14.
The good news is a don't seem to "fight" the mask and wearing has gone somewhat smoothly. The majority of my leak issues is when I try to sleep on my side and the mask shifts. I wear it 100% of the time I'm trying to sleep.
As noted, I'm new to this and appreciate the insight of those who have blazed the trail...

welcome aboard! don't want to sound pedantic, but by episodes do you mean events? and i'm assuming the 5-6.5 is AHI? if so, you are nowhere near treated using your machine. doctors think below 5 is treated and pat you on the head and say your fine. around here, we strive to get an ahi of below two, consistently.OldCaddy67 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2019 4:12 pmHello - newbie here from SE WIsconsin.

if you are actually seeing pressure ranging from 12-14, that means your start pressure of 5 is way too low.
what you need to do in order to improve your therapy is get the free oscar software. you'll see the link in my sig below. also there is a link to the "newbie" thread. lots of good information there to get you started.
download the software, read up about in the newbie thread and start posting charts. ( the newbie thread talks about sleepyhead. just substitute oscar for that in your reading and you'll be right.) once you post your charts, right here in this thread, you'll get lots of useful advice to ensure your therapy is optimized.
good luck!

Re: Episodes - what to expect
IF you mean your AHI is 5-6.5, that's pretty bad.OldCaddy67 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2019 4:12 pmHello - newbie here from SE WIsconsin.

We like to see AHI under 2. not 5, 5 still is crap, like being poked with a sharp stick every 12 minutes.
settings of 5-20 are really too low for most people.
Post some charts, set your min pressure to 7, and let's see what we can do.
