Mask help with nose irritation

Post by roadcycler » Sun Oct 27, 2019 8:36 am

I am finally at a lose and need help

For the last 3 months my leak rate and AHI ( mostly centrals ) have increased. I initially started a 1 1/2 years ago with a p10 mask and found that the medium pillows gave me nose sores, so switched to the large pillows and everything was fine.

In the last 3 months I have started to loose weight again and have developed nose sores on the inside of my nose. Figured it was due to the mask moving around (leak rate has doubled ) so purchased a p30i and that helped for a short time. The last month the sores have gotten worse to the point I was getting nose bleeds, so to give them a rest I recently purchased a n30i medium cushion and a n20 mask medium. Have tried them for the last 3 nights but find I get stuffed up and seem unable to get enough air, plus my wife does not like the venting of the n30i or n20. For her I can sleep on my other side or back but have the nasal congestion.

I have tried to increase the humidity to no avail. The pressure is set to 6 with an EPR of 3 ( if I decrease the EPR my centrals increase dramatically ) I am going to try the medium p10 pillows tonight, but I really need to get some uninterupted sleep. Any ideas

I have attached last nights sleep the first 2 sleeps are with the n30i, the third was with the n20 and the last and longest with the p30i.

Thanks in advance
Rob

Just as a side note I have purchased all the masks on my own dime as the price the local shop charges it is cheaper for me to purchase myself than through them with my insurance. Plus insurance only allows one every 6 months

I have used Neosporin with pain reliever inside and outside of nostril to treat such sores, and that has helped relieve discomfort, and also helps seal air leaks. Also try smearing saline gel, I find that helpful for maintenance, and it doesn't discolor the nasal pillows.

Neosporin pain relief is amazing for all sorts of things.
I put it on mosquito bites--no itching!
(And the mosquitos were delicious, but unsatisfyingly small.)
