Hi everyone. My name is Amanda and in August I was diagnosed with sleep apnea after finally going to the doctor and getting a sleep study done. They sent a request in September to AeroCare Home Medical for an automatic CPAP and finally the beginning of October was when I received a letter from my insurance said they would cover the first 2 month's rental and then after that they'd need to see the compliance logs before paying the remainder of the rental.
I have a high deductible HSA plan and I'm 100% met on both my deductible and stop-loss for the remainder of the year so I was expecting an easy "Here's your machine" and come January, since my deductible starts over, I'd be the one making the monthly rental payments for awhile. Apparently not...
Received a call last week from AeroCare stating that I'd be responsible for a $610 down payment and $144 monthly rental for the next 13 months for a ResMed AirSense 10 Automatic. A total of $2482! I've already seen it's online for $883 so I told them there's got to be a mistake somewhere so she sent it back to their insurance person. I asked why such a big difference in price between what I see online and she says if I just want to pay cash and not use insurance it's $770.
I also told her I was confused on the insurance pricing. She wrote back and said it was reverified with insurance and I am correct - that it's covered 100% at this time but that when my insurance starts over in January, it would be approximately $29 per month for the remainder of the rental. Starting to seem a little too good to be true now.
If I had the cash right now, I'd just buy it and be done with it. But my HSA is a little low because I just finished paying off my daughter's braces.
Sooooooo.... what I'm here for is wondering if anyone has had a good experience with AeroCare and if they give you something in writing stating how everything will be paid. They've already said they want a credit card # to keep on file and I'm just scared it's going to get used for amounts that I didn't agree to.

Just the typical grossly inflated "medical" prices in the United States.dreamn34 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2019 12:39 pm
