Re: clogged nose
It's never been advised to add anything to the water.
But you can add some essential oil to a cotton ball and place it right behind the air intake so that the incoming air has all that aroma.
Don't forget to place the cotton ball on something to protect the wood if your table top is wood or anything that oil could damage.
It's what I do when I want some sort of aroma therapy.

Re: clogged nose
Do you have clogged sinuses all the time or just when wearing the mask? Asking because some people have problems with a mask sitting across their nose and compressing the airways. When I had that problem it felt like severe congestion but it was actually obstruction from the push of the mask. Others have to experiment with humidity levels as the sinuses can react when they don't like the level of humidity being used. Even it's an already existing sinus issue, maybe playing around with the humidity can at least help a bit.
