Seems to be regardless of conditions.
I could starve myself of sleep for 3 days, find a dark, soundproof room, and have a mask with no leaks... I’m still only going to get 6hrs at the most.
Anyone else have this issue? Any ideas what could be the cause(s)?
Welcome to the club...though this is not a club you want to join.

I wake up at about 3 in the morning and it’s hard for me to go back to sleep. My GP says it comes with my age (50’s). Usually I wake up feeling hungry like wah! I’ll eat something fatty, like cheese or meat. That usually helps me a bit.

I also have a rain sound app on my phone that helps too.
I experience the same type of cravings. I think what you’re experiencing is from sleep apnea. You might double check your charts and make sure your therapy is good. Your body freaks out because it’s not getting enough air/oxygen and enters a survival mode which releases a chemical (can’t recall the name) that basically tells the body to eat and breathe so you don’t die. Also the type of craving will always be carb based because that’s what we naturally crave when we are starving. That’s why your salami and cheese hits the spot so well. This is why people with sleep apnea often experience weight gain and constant hunger and carb cravings. At least that’s what I read somewhere on the interwebs :)

Interesting, I used to wake up hungry at 4am before CPAP treatment. :o
