CPAP Settings

Post by wmyatt » Tue Sep 24, 2019 1:15 pm

I have very mild Sleep Apnea. (Somewhere between 5-6). Anyway, they started me off with a Nasal Mask (ResMed Airfit 30). I tried another one, but this one seems to be the most comfortable. I also bought my CPAP machine (found a ResMed s9 Autoset being sold at a Medical CPAP supply - never been used - no hours for $250). My CPAP started blasting at 11. It seemed ok, but I would wake up multiple times with an extremely dry mouth. Anyway, It's now 7.6 for the last 2 days and no leaks, no dry mouth, and the AHI numbers went from 2 to 0.9. The only thing that changed was the OA went from 0 to .35. Is it possible that the settings if set to high can cause your mouth to open. Just FYI - I've been using the SleepyHead App as I can't seem to get Oscar to work.

CPAP, even if the pressure is set properly, can cause the pressure to inflate the cheeks and the lips to part to relieve the pressure. It doesn't happen to everyone, but it is a common problem.

Thank you for the response. I just know I'm not a mouth sleeper because my mouth has never been dry - ever. So, I knew something had to change.
