Blood clot

Post by Melfananny » Sun Sep 15, 2019 9:48 am

Found a blood clot About size of a nickel in the nose part of cpap machine. Any one ever experienced this. Also I’m on warfarin for life because of blood clots in lungs.

I'd discuss that with your doctor.

Get with your doctor. Sounds like you probably had a substantial nose bleed during the night and with your history and meds...best to talk it over with your doctor.

It is NOT a common occurrence to have that much of a nose bleed.

When people do have a little nose bleed it is usually because the nasal mucosa has got a bit dried out and they might need more moisture in the air going into the nose but this is usually just seen when we maybe blow our nose in the morning and see evidence of a small bleed.
Nothing anywhere near enough to be a clot of any size either in the nose or in the mask.

Anyone on blood thinners needs to always have a chat with their doctor when they have a bleed anywhere that they can't account for.

That, and any unexplained bruising should call for a doctor visit.
Controlling clotting while avoiding hemorrhage is a delicate balancing act.
Your doctor should be completely in the loop.
Losing control either way can be serious.

Murphy's Law says that this stuff always happens when no one is available to talk to easily.

I assume the bleed has quit by now or you would be in more of a panic about it.
Be careful blowing your nose or scratching an itch inside the nose or even going booger picking. There's likely a scab up in there that if it gets dislodged will start the bleeding all over again.

You might want to inquire with your physician about switching to Xarelto.
That's what they put me on after a trip to the hospital in mid-July. Seems to be working well, so far.
Some years ago, my wife was put on Warfarin for a number of months and it was a pain to deal with......monitoring and dosages.
