Exercises to alleviate Apnea?
Exercises to alleviate Apnea?
Are there any exercises or physical therapy that one can do to prevent the obstruction from occurring? (in addition to exercise to lose weight... )
Losing excess weight is good "physical therapy" for anyone.
You could learn to play didjeridoo. That's supposed to help. However, I have one and I play it (had it before my apnea diagnosis) and it hasn't helped a bit. But there's some study out there probably done by guys that know how to write grants and it says playing the didjeridoo can help. So they must be right cause they have more degrees than me
Actually though... it would stand to reason that exercises that improve your breathing, and the musculature of your throat, *might* be of benefit. Im sure it would be different for everyone. Maybe tongue exercises too because I think some obstruction for some people is caused by the tongue sliding back in the throat.

Snoring exercises
Colorado - -
Here are some exercises to help prevent snoring (apnea is only mentioned in the footnotes). http://www.smile-on.com/articles/articl ... cle_id=521
I've been doing these a few times a week for the past year, and I can say that it hasn't made things any worse. I suspect, however, that at least most of my improvement comes from 100% compliance w/ CPAP.
It might be very interesting if one of the med schools did some research into tongue exercises and attenuation of OSA intensity, duration, and frequency.
Regards all, Capt. Midnight
