For me my priorities were as follows...
1. works with my insurance company rather than my paying and being reimbursed
2. selection of good reputation CPAP machines and masks
3. more professional than salesman (not rushing, sells me what I need/is best for me)
4. customer service - allows me to try various models until I find the perfect fit (NOT online)
5. warranty (no hassles if something goes wrong)
6. location, convenient
7. fair price
What is not important to me: Speed (I don't mind making an appointment a week hence), the widest selection of machines and masks (over-choice!), absolute lowest price, personal style of person I deal with or his office.
I believe I found such a company in my own neighbourhood. I could get cheaper prices on amazon.ca but instead I chose to build a relationship with a RRT. But I do buy inconsequentials such as generic replacement filters online.
And you?

Re: Choosing where to buy CPAP machine - priorities?
There are many brick and mortar DMEs in my area to choose from. None of them are worth a damn. My sleep doctor expresses the same sentiment.
I buy low-hour, used machines off the internet with my own funds. I get advice on machines, masks and accessories from cpaptalk.
It's all worked out great for me. AHI<1.0 and low leak level.
Re: Choosing where to buy CPAP machine - priorities?
I rarely replace anything so none of this is important to me...However, there are competent DMEs available in my area.

You must live in a city. Most places have a dusty overpriced dme store or self pay, via the internet.hermeshermes wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 2:24 amFor me my priorities were as follows...

My DME is a regional mom-n-pop.
No frills, just clean, fresh stuff--and they will special order any odd thing I request.
No push-back at all.
All nice folks; and my insurance/Medicare pays the bills.
I really cannot complain.

Re: Choosing where to buy CPAP machine - priorities?
i am going out of pocket, so i don't have to deal with insurance and such. i realized that i am privileged in this regard.
i buy my stuff from our hosts, https://www.cpap.com/.
and i'm happy to give them the plug.
there IS a brick and mortar in flagstaff, which surprised the hell out of me. only thing i have ever bought there was a foam cervical collar. but they have other stuff should i want it.
so far, i don't want it.

Remember to pay attention to the mask. This is the part that actually touches you, so it's critical to find the right one!
