UPS with machine?

Does anyone use a UPS (uninterrupted power supply) and/or surge protector with their machine?

It will work, but it's not the best solution, unless you are a Rockefeller! See Capt Loki's posts on it.

I use many surge protectors,on many devices, mainly as outlet multipliers, no grounded plugs in this old house,so they might now work as good as they could for surges. My house is a octopus of them and plug strips, too many toys.

UPSs are not a good solution for CPAP backups.
Typically:

• The output is an inverted AC plug so 40(ish)% of power is lost
• They beep when running without power
• They are expensive for the Amp Hours available

Better solutions include:

• 12-volt scooter battery (most bang for your buck)
• Consumer battery power-station

For both, don't use an AC power inverter, instead use a DC cable or converter

I used to have an Everest-3 CPAP. That machine had had a built-in battery backup.

However, that company went out of business in 2011 due to a factory fire. The machine was light weight and somewhat smaller than the DreamStation Auto that I have now. However, it was not available as an automatic, no version supported a heated hose, and no data capability (except hours used), was available. Also, the unit was just too "delicate."

I used to have a black max flashlight.
But, what does that have to do with this thread?

Yes. My husband bought one for my bilevel machine. We get monsoon dust storms in summer with lightning, which can damage equipment, so he bought one to help protect my machine.

Yes

Yes!
Mine is plugged into an APC SM 750.
This is pure sine wave unit.
It might keep my XPAP going for up to an hour. But it also protects against surges, spikes and sags in voltage.
The downside is it squeals like a pig while the power is out.
I also have a 100 amp hours AGM battery and charger with a 12 volt cable for my old PRS1 960 ASV, which can power me through one and a half nights if necessary. I put this together for car camping last year.
I would always insist on at least a good surge suppressor.

Absolutely!!! And, have for many years.
I also have a couple of smaller versions (APC BACK-UPS-650M1and BACK-UPS-BN450M) to pack along with me whenever we travel.......which is not often. All I need is something to take me through a few short periods of power bumps or losses like through any storms.
They're not expensive and may save many $$$ preventing any damage if outages may occur. I became a believer when our power dropped one night because of a transformer blow-out and it turned out that the couple of hours of time I had accumulated that night didn't get recorded.......and were lost. It surprised me but it didn't take long to make sure that wouldn't happen again.

This is pure sine wave unit.

Sine wave *does not matter* with a switching power supply like modern cpaps have.

It did matter with older ones, like the humidifiers on the old M series Respironics machines.
