New to the CPAP World

Post by RSG » Thu Jul 25, 2019 7:29 am

Hi everyone,

I would like to share my story as a newbie here.
I've been really feeling tired and sleepy all day long. High blood pressure and I always take a nap as much as possible.

I finally went through the sleep test at the local hospital and the result of my AHI is at around 68.
My doctor introduced me to the cpap machine, and suggested me to try several brands before buying
I've been researching online all day long about the machine.
so I finally got a week long of trial on the Philips Dreamstation and another week of Resmed Autoset.

On the Philip side,
Turned out that i cannot got used to the Philips, I took the mask off every night. I'm not sure if i was really new to the machine and happened not to be adapted to it yet.
Only tried on the nasal pillow mask, which i really don't like because the pressure was a bit aggressive to me and it's a bit noisy for me which was hard to sleep on
Result : my AHI reduced to 3 - 6

On the Resmed trail side, I feel that the pressure is a bit softer and the nasal mask is much quieter and easier to sleep
My AHI reduced to 1 right away every night.

After 2 trials , I've finally order the Resmed and it has just arrived yesterday.
my AHI result is at 1.09 on the first night. but i cannot sync them with the myAir app.
the machine got the signal bar with the yellow circle with the cross on. any suggestions?
In the mean time i use Oscar and also attached the first night result here to ask if there is any suggestion on adjusting the machine

My life really changed because of the machine, and now I don't fell sleepy during the day any longer.

Welcome to the forum.

Please review this thread for report format tips.
You included non useful stuff and omitted useful stuff....like the events graph.
viewtopic/t158560/How-to-post-images-for-review.html

Did you ever go to sleep during that first session before you turned the machine off and back on?
What position were you in at that first session?

If you slept well overall....I would suggest an increase in the minimum up to 7 cm and see what happens with the pressure line...see if it doesn't go so wild and crazy.

If you didn't sleep well and had a lot of time awake with mask and machine on....not sure I would do anything because the machine might have just been responding to awake breathing irregularities and we can't base therapy ideas on awake breathing results.

Welcome to the forum. You can find a lot of help here. It looks like you are getting off to a pretty good start. Personally, I wouldn't worry about My Air. You get much more information from Oscar. If your doctor or DME want to see how you are doing, they can ask you to bring in your SD card. I haven't looked at My Air in over a year, and my wife and I both are hose heads.
