gv280z Therapy thread

Post by gv280z » Wed Jul 17, 2019 7:26 pm

First time I've routed around in Sleepy Head in a long time. I'm happy to see that my max pressures have dropped (from last year) but dismayed at all the vibratory snores.

Do you have a bed partner or roommate who has actually heard you snoring? Or, are you just relying on the chart?

Yes I am married and my wife was forced to drug herself and get a head start every night to get to sleep before I went to bed I was such an incredibly prolific snore'r. Awful loud horrible snoring, and that all stopped when I got on cpap. So now, she no longer complains about me snoring, I'm just going off the charts at this point. I was just surprised to see there was even anything there at all.

I LOVE MY CPAP! It has literally fixed everything for me, physiologically and mentally, Weight, pre diabetes, blood pressure, chest / diaphragm cramps, snoring, drowsiness, almost wrecking into people while driving (I'm an equipment rental delivery driver crossing thousands of miles of Houston roads every month!)

CPAP saved me, And most likely someone else too.
Yay :D For no more diaphragm cramps and dozing off while driving!

I don't worry about a little VS2 snores if everything else seems to be working fine....feeling good and sleeping good and all that.

Sometimes VS2 snores aren't related to the airway trying to close up but instead are the machine picking up on some sort of vibration from elsewhere. If wife still hears them though...might be something a little more minimum pressure will reduce.
Usually doesn't take much more pressure to reduce snores when not much of anything else is going on. They might be more related to sleeping position or REM stage sleep where those times just a bit more pressure is needed.
If you want to try something to see if the VS2 snores reduce...maybe 0.5 to 1.0 more minimum pressure.

i cannot change that myself though, right (Dreamstation Auto).. I'd have to talk to the doc. only thing pressure wise i can affect is ramp, which i don't use.

wife has not mentioned any snoring, if i am it's so minimal to not bother her.

Wellllllll.....you can do anything you want to and that includes change any of the settings IF you want to.
Not hard at all. All you need to know is the secret handshake for getting into the setup menu area.
https://www.apneaboard.com/dreamstation ... structions
Now whether or not you are comfortable doing that sort of stuff is up to you.
Some docs get their panties all in wad when patients change stuff and some don't care.
Now the DMEs....they can't change anything without a doctor's okay but the patient isn't bound by the same rules that the DMEs have despite the DMEs telling patients that they can't change anything.

You've been using the machine long enough that I doubt if anyone is even watching anyway.

But if you aren't comfortable doing it...there's no urgent need to change it. I mention it as an option.

Hell yeah I'll check into it, i got no problem with that at all. so minimal pressure i think is at 13, so I'll only go up like 1, 1.5. my max has come down quite a bit so not much differential there.

thanks for the link, I'll let y'all know what happens.

ok i just read the link, learned how to access the deep settings and found the proper adjustment category. Will change minimum auto pressure to 14 as soon as i get home.

so. much. this.

all the same for me, save for the driving part. i was lucky in that my apnea never affected my driving.

good to hear you are doing so well.

now, just tackle that raising of pressure and things will get even better.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Yep I got into the deep settings and raised my minimum auto pressure by 1 point to 14(cm?) and I also can now see my ahi on the menu screen under user details or data, whatever, where it shows hours of therapy and max pressures.
