Most of us keep our houses between 78-82 in the summer time ...
Those recommendations for colder sleep are for places where it is colder to start with.
Doesn't it have more to do with dew point? A bedroom at 78F in Orlando is just too warm.

We have owned winter homes in both humid and arid areas. We had to keep the bedroom about five degrees cooler in the humid areas.

I purchased a grounding pad for my bed several months ago, If you don't know what I'm talking about just do a search for "grounding/earthing". There is a lot of info about it on the internet. So......I am not pushing this by any means but a few days ago I had the pad off for one night for washing and drying and had a bad leg cramp during the night. Coincidence? Have not had a leg cramp in several months and used to get them all of the time. Grounding pad is also supposed to improve sleep quality. I have no way of knowing if the grounding pad helps or not, but I know a few people that swore by the grounding pad and convinced me to try one. Maybe the reduction in leg cramps is due to my new ASV machine???????? I'm sure that my improved sleep is due to lack of apnea events.
We have been using grounding pads in our bed and under my computer keyboard for years. Do they work? I still cannot say, but there is a lot of studies published that connecting a person's body to ground daily has many proven benefits. I read the book written by the person who first discovered the grounding effects. Very interesting read. The writer was a self-made millionaire in the cable TV business when it was first launched in Denver. He decided to sell his home, bought an RV, and traveled the US. It was during his travels that he noticed a connection to people being in seawater (at the beach) and the folks being happy (seawater makes a great ground). I would have thought that there was nothing unusual about that, but I am not a self-made millionaire that can see opportunities in unusual places. His book is really interesting on how he went on to study the grounding effects and then learning how to make/publish valid scientific clinical studies. As I said very interesting and proven concept.

He discovered people are happier during a beach trip? What a genius!
