Airsense 10 auto

Undiagnosed- buying tommorow

when i buy the machine i suppose ill reset it then set the date and time. Apparently it comes with mask hose cord and a card in it.

i know nothing about how this machine or sleep apnea works, and so i was wondering where i can read up on pressures, what pressure i should start with, and how to get and interpret my data with this machine.

Am i ast risk of causing more health problems by using the wrong pressure, or is it more risky to not use the machine entirely. Are there helpful videos i can watch about how to get myself set up right and how to manage/monitor the pressure setting i need?

Hi curiousbetsy :D

I am always impressed with proactive people.

Others will be along to welcome and advise you soon, but I was wondering if you would be willing to share what caused you to seek out a cpap?

What health conditions are you hoping to fix? Do you have friends or relatives that use a cpap.

The airsense AUTOSET is one of the best machines you can get. So you're already on your way to a good start.
Began XPAP May 2016. Autoset Pressure min. 8 / max 15. Ramp off. ERP set at 2. No humidity. Sleepyhead software installed and being looked at daily, though only beginning to understand the data.

Start with a min pressure of 6,and a Max of 20, then post some charts,as directed in the "NEWBIES,READ THIS FIRST!" post.

welcome to the zoo! when you have your machine, please come back to this post. set up as palerider suggests. also as he suggests, read the newbies post. it's the link at the bottom of my post.

you aren't going to harm yourself. it may take awhile, but your health and sleep WILL improve.

please read all the permanent posts that are the first thing you see on the page. some of it will be outdated, maybe even with some broken links, but it will help familiarize you with the lingo.

others will be along with more advice.

good luck!

i see oscar had actually replaced it. does the software still look the same? will reading this guide to sleepyhead be beneficial for using oscar?

To me Oscar looks the same. the sleepyhead guide should be beneficial as well. Oscar was forked from sleepyhead to fix bugs and provide better support.

Yes, Oscar is *very* similar at this point, that's why Pugsy hasn't bothered to update the instructions... Now, when the next version comes out, they'll probably need updating.

Might as well use Oscar, it's supported now, whereas sleepyhead was strangled in it's sleep by it's creator in a fit of rage.

I think it’s great you are going to try CPAP therapy! The Oscar link is in palerider’s signature block, and here it is again:

https://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/

When you get the machine, let us know if you need help actually setting the pressures. There are some other settings too, e.g., humidity, ramp, and EPR (basically lowers the pressure a bit every time you breathe out).

Have you thought about what kind of mask you’d like to try? If not, I guess the first question is whether you need to breath through you mouth at night.

And a tip: try using the machine and mask for the first time during the day, ideally while you’re doing something enjoyable, like reading or watching TV. This will help you get used to the general feel of it all without the extra anxiety of trying to get some sleep.
Oscar software is available at https://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/

ooohhh? what? software evolves, changes, there's some crap in sleepyhead that's being eliminated, there's some stuff that confuses most people that's been clarified, and who knows what else.

This may come as a big surprise (or it may not) to everyone but redoing that ancient tutorial is the last thing on my to do list.

It needs to been done though....but no sense in doing it until OSCAR is more stable....and I have a larger supply of Valium and maybe a gallon of my homemade Irish Creme stuff.

Fair warning though...it will be read only. I will force people who have questions or problems or want something "analyzed" to create a new topic/thread.   It is commonly known that I hate it when I say "don't ask questions here but create your own topic" and what do they do....they post in the tutorial. That will stop.

For the time being OSCAR is pretty much a clone of SleepyHead with some minor bug fixes and minor changes...the outdated tutorial for SleepyHead will work well enough for OSCAR for the time being.

In the meantime....I might be up for donations of suitable drugs to help me get through another tutorial. :D
