Need help with water droplets in my full face mask

Post by mets123 » Sun Jun 23, 2019 4:36 am

I woke up this morning with a lot of water droplets in my full face mask. I am using a heated tube with a cover over the hose, My settings are humidity on auto and tube temperature on 60 degrees. My room last night was a little on the warm side with the air conditioner off.
I didn’t think I would get rainout with humidity on auto, never had this before.
What would be a good remedy for this problem?
Thanks

Make sure the machine is lower than your head. See if that helps. Water cannot naturally travel upward. Put the machine on a box or milk crate type of thing (thang').

You need to have the hose air temp on auto also if you expect to have the auto function help out with moisture control.
With it set to 60 degrees and the ambient room temp likely warmer than 60 degrees the heated hose likely never came on at all.
While the ambient air was on the warm side it didn't prevent the air in the mask from cooling off to the point of condensation happening in the mask itself. The moisture in your exhaled breath added to the moisture cranked out by the machine probably tipped the scales and the air cooled off enough that with that extra moisture added by your breathing....condensation was just going to happen.
You need to warm up the hose air that goes into the mask.

With the "auto" settings....humidity set to auto just deals with humidity.
Hose has to also be set to auto to get the heated hose to help deal with condensation prevention.
People can have humidity set to auto and hose set to manual and have the hose air temp control be separate....that's what it sounds like you have chosen.

Thanks Pugsy for your explanation, I didn’t know there was an auto for the tube temperature also.
Do you feel you can leave both the temperature and humidity settings on auto year round?

I don't see why not. I don't change anything but hose air temp though. I find in the summer that I prefer as cool of air as I can get by with and not have condensation happen.
In the winter warmer air feels good because I tend to keep house temps on the cool side.

People should do whatever they want to do and keeps their nose and themselves happy.
