Another milestone acheived

Post by cpapjack » Thu Nov 30, 2006 8:42 am

So my last hour of sleep this morning was my 1000th hour of APAP sleep. Thanks to everyone here who has helped me get to where I'm at. I really couldn't have done it without the wonderful people on this forum. For about the last two months, my #'s are as follows:

95% Pressure - 10.2
Leak Rate - 0
AHI - 2.3
AI - .2
HI - 2.1

I've used my S8 137 of 139 nights for at least 6 hours a night. The two nights that I didn't use it were on Oct. 12 and Oct. 13. That is when we were hit with a freak snowstorm of 2ft. and power was out for almost 400,000 customers for up to 2 weeks for some. Anyway, thanks again to all who have helped me and I just want to let all of the newcomers who are struggling know that there is hope.

Jack

Jack, what great numbers. Happy to hear that you're doing so well and have been using your machine successfully for so many hours!

Keep up the good work.

Trina,

Thank you. Some people are able to hit the ground running with this, others, have to make it work. I was one of the second group. It's not really hard or time consuming work, but it does require some patience and understanding. Congrats on your 1 week and 2 days. I remember being there myself, and now here I am. I am so thankful that I finally did something avbout why I always felt tired and groggy all of the time. What a difference this has made.

Hey jack, Glad to hear you're doing so well. I'm over in Rochester, and boy, glad we didn't get any of that Buffalo snow. Good news is, if you were stuck inside, you had lots of opportunity for naps with your CPAP. Bad new was of course no Power Go figure.

Thanks Jasper.

We were pretty fortunate during that storm. No problems with any trees as I only had 1 in my yard, but I had to take it down. Our property backs up to a bunch of tress and some of the branches from them fell in our yard. Battery backup sump pump, so no water and we have a gas fireplace, so we were warm. But ah yes, no power for my trusty APAP. Unfortunately I had to sleep two nights without as we were withou power for about 48hrs. I slept upright in our recliner, so it wasn't too, too bad. Because of all this though, I was informed that if one has "official" OSA, and I mean official by having had a sleep study and documentation from your Dr., you can register with your electric company. Now what this means exactly, I don't know exactly, because I'm still waiting for the paperwork from National Grid. My belief is that if you lose power, you are made a priority to get power back and/or you are loaned a generator. Again, not exactly sure.

Thanks Kajun. I wish I could give a comparison, but when I first started, I had Respironics M Plus CPAP machine that didn't record efficacy data, only compliance data. I'm getting the numbers from the LCD display of my machine. Hopefully Santa will bring me a card reader fro XMAS so I can start lookig a little bit deeper. I know that AutoScan isn't the best, but that's what's available for the ResMed machines and it's better than nothing I guess.

Hmmm ... We have same machine, same interface, about the same Rx pressure, and we are getting about the same efficacy stats values from our treatment system ... congrats!!
